Google Cloud Announces the Availability of Google Cloud VMware Engine in India

India, June 17,  2021 – To support enterprises looking to migrate their VMware environments to the cloud and advance their digital transformation journeys, Google Cloud today announced the availability of Google Cloud VMware Engine in India.

The service delivers a fully managed VMware Cloud Foundation stack for cloud migration—in a dedicated environment on Google Cloud’s highly performant and reliable infrastructure to support enterprise production workloads. With this service, customers can migrate or extend their on-premises workloads to Google Cloud in minutes by connecting to a dedicated VMware environment directly through the Google Cloud Console. Running VMware workloads on Google Cloud, reduces operational burden while benefiting from scale and agility, and maintains continuity with the organization's existing tools, policies, and processes.

A Differentiated VMware Experience

Google Cloud VMware Engine provides a hyper-converged architecture so organizations can run and scale their infrastructure in minutes to power enterprise workloads that they would traditionally have needed to manage on-premise: from ERP and CRM to Oracle databases, and virtual desktops. Enterprises can also modernize existing IT investments and leverage on-demand self-service provisioning of VMware private clouds with integrated connectivity to Google Cloud services such as BigQuery, Cloud Operations, Cloud Storage, Kubernetes, and Cloud AI.

"This partnership to bring Google Cloud VMware engine to Indian enterprises will enable them to unleash the true potential of adopting a cloud first strategy. We look forward to working with VMware to empower organizations to adapt to changing times and digitally transform themselves with the power of the cloud," said Bikram Bedi, Managing Director, Google Cloud India.

"We always had a cloud-first strategy at HCL, which got a huge boost in the new normal (Work from Anywhere). Google Cloud VMware engine will complement our overall technology and business strategy to scale our infrastructure as well as optimize costs. We are very excited to partner with two big tech giants and the approaching together of Google Cloud and VMware to deliver a seamless experience for our customers and  enterprises,” said, Ashu Kakkar, Vice President, HCL Technologies.

In addition to its native capabilities, VMware users value the platform for its rich third-party ecosystem for disaster recovery, backup, monitoring, security—or any other imaginable IT needs. Since the service provides a native VMware platform, one can continue to use those tools, with no changes. Google Cloud VMware Engine provides privilege escalation which allows IT to modify/ customize VMs for a limited time. This simplifies the migration process by allowing IT to continue to run the same applications in the cloud as they do on premises.

“With this partnership our customers can now deploy Google Cloud VMware Engine and seamlessly migrate their existing VMware-based applications to Google Cloud without refactoring or rewriting them. This enables our customers to take advantage of the capabilities of Google Cloud even as they continue to benefit from the resilience and consistency of the VMware platform they’ve known and loved,” said Pradeep Nair, Vice President and Managing Director, VMware India.
